Trump urges Putin to stop

Russia Launches One of Its Worst Attacks in Months

Trump urges Putin to stop after Russia launches a devastating missile strike on Ukraine, killing at least 12 on April 24, 2025. Just hours after former President Donald Trump said peace talks were moving forward, Kyiv and other major cities were hit by some of the bloodiest assaults in months.

Trump Responds on Truth Social: “Vladimir, STOP!”

Trump posted on Truth Social:

“Vladimir, STOP! I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the Peace Deal DONE!”

Trump emphasized that both sides want peace but must return to the negotiating table. He claimed Russia offered major concessions, including a stop to the war. However, Ukraine remains firm in rejecting any surrender of territory, especially Crimea.

Oval Office Meeting: Trump Talks Peace but Avoids Sanctions

During a meeting with Norway’s prime minister, Trump expressed frustration over the missile attacks. When asked about more sanctions, he said he would rather wait a week to respond, hinting that diplomatic progress is still possible.

Trump noted Ukraine had already lost large areas of land and that recovering Crimea would be “very difficult.” He criticized Zelenskyy for pushing back against the proposed peace deal and claimed the U.S. was applying pressure to both Russia and Ukraine.

U.S. Peace Talks Struggle Amid Escalation

High-level peace talks in London collapsed earlier this week after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkoff withdrew. Talks have since been downgraded, but the White House insists negotiations will continue.

Witkoff is scheduled to travel to Moscow this week for further discussions. Secretary Rubio said the latest attacks only reinforce the need to end the war now.

Zelenskyy and Allies Blame Russia for Escalation

Zelenskyy criticized the lack of tough sanctions against Russia and called for more international pressure. Ukrainian officials labeled Russia’s peace demands as unrealistic and aggressive.

Ukraine’s foreign minister said,

“Moscow, not Kyiv, is where pressure should be applied.”

With civilian casualties mounting and peace talks hanging by a thread, the world watches closely for the next move.
