Tourist Faces Charges After Locking Dog Inside Castle Locker
Dog locked in Neuschwanstein locker sparks police probe after tourist leaves pet inside to tour the castle undisturbed.
Witnesses say the woman ignored objections from other visitors and stuffed her dog inside the locker on a hot summer day in southern Germany, where temperatures soared.

The locker, already crowded with a baby stroller, offered little space or ventilation. Tourists quickly alerted castle security, who opened the compartment and rescued the visibly distressed dog.
“The dog was fortunately unharmed but visibly glad when it was rescued from the already hot locker,” police said in a statement.
Legal Action Under Germany’s Animal Welfare Law
Authorities have opened criminal proceedings against the tourist, who could face penalties under Germany’s strict animal welfare laws. The dog, described as a mongrel or mixed breed, is now safe.
About the Castle of Neuschwanstein
Neuschwanstein Castle, which was finished in 1886 and is located in southern Germany close to the Austrian border, is the famous inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland. Although pets are not permitted inside, well-prepared tourists can take use of services.
