Reese Manchaca Life Tragically Cut Short
Reese Manchaca Conroe flood claims life of 21-year-old Caney Creek grad during July 4th disaster in Texas Hill Country.
She and three friends were celebrating the holiday in a cabin near Hunt, Texas, when powerful floodwaters swept it away. After an extensive search, her body was recovered on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Honored With Full Police Escort Home
On Wednesday, July 9, deputies from all five Montgomery County constable precincts escorted Reese’s body from Kerrville back home to Conroe.
“It just demonstrates the heart of the people of Montgomery County,” said Judge Mark Keough.
“Our constables answered the call to bring her home with honor.”
A Life Remembered: Bright, Unique, and Loved
Reese was known for her vibrant spirit and individuality.
“You always knew when Reese was in the building,” said JLyn Jackson, a family friend and Caney Creek teacher.
“She stood out—she was exactly who she was.”
She won two senior superlative awards, loved bold fashion, and had an infectious personality that lit up every room.
Forever Reese: A Community Tribute
To honor Reese’s memory, friends and teachers launched the “Forever Reese” tribute shirt, adorned with angel wings, a halo, and her favorite colors.
- Over 200 shirts were sold in 24 hours
- Goal: sell 500 shirts and raise $10,000
- Proceeds will support Reese’s family
“It spoke to people’s hearts,” said Tracy Underwood.
“We pray everyone wearing it feels her spirit.”

The Grief Continues: More Lives Lost in Texas Flooding
Reese was not alone during the tragic event. The flood also claimed the lives of:
- Ella Cahill, found Tuesday night
- Joyce Badon, found Monday
- Aiden Heartfield (Cahill’s boyfriend) is still missing as of Wednesday evening
The July 4 floods have devastated Central Texas:
- 111 confirmed dead
- 161 still missing
- Over 1,000 volunteers involved in rescue operations
