Game 7 Ends in Double Overtime Thriller As WPG Jets Advance
Winnipeg Jets vs St. Louis Blues: The Jets staged a miraculous 4–3 double-overtime win in Game 7 to eliminate the Blues.
Jets Score Two Late Goals To Force Overtime
The Blues vs Jets Game 7 seemed all but over with under two minutes to go in the third. The Jets Winnipeg trailed 3-1. Then, Vladislav Namestnikov sparked life into the Canada Life Centre crowd, scoring with 1:59 left. With the Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck pulled, the puck bounced off a Blues defenseman and past Jordan Binnington.
Still down one, Winnepeg Jets coach Rick Bowness kept Hellebuyck on the bench. The risk paid off. Cole Perfetti, who already had a goal earlier, deflected a shot from Kyle Connor with just 1.6 seconds left, tying the Jets game at 3-3. It was the latest game-tying goal in NHL playoff history.
Adam Lowry Becomes The Hero In Double OT
After nearly five full periods, captain Adam Lowry tipped home a point shot to give the WPG Jets the win. The Jets score sent fans into a frenzy, ending the St Louis Blues game tonight and their season.
Lowry’s goal was his third of the series. Neal Pionk, who logged a massive 46:15 of ice time, earned the assist. He stepped up big with Josh Morrissey out early due to injury and Mark Scheifele sidelined.
Jets Advance To Face Stars In Round 2
With this Jets win, they now move on to face the Dallas Stars, who eliminated the Colorado Avalanche in their own Game 7 thriller. Game 1 between the Jets and Stars is set for Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. ET.
